We have to admit,in this instance,that the Amazon in question was about six feet tall, blonde,horribly healthy and given over to free-love as even Ingmar Bergman has shrunk from depicting it.But not Atkinson and Searle. However,suffice it to say that what these intrepid non-travellers did for Russia and America,by not going there,they now do for some handy bits of Europe.Not only do they reveal the rather horrible gastronomic secrets of the French Routiers,at the risk of being splashed with Potage du Jour,they also note down with courage the intimate and revealing pattern of Primitive Nordic Orgies,and plod on to probe secrets surrounding the nocturnal habits of Spanish Castanet Tuners.Searle and Atkinson are men who fear nothing - except going to the places they depict - and this formidable team is now joined by the no less formidable Mrs Dyson, whose voyage by Balsa raft to Cardiff will long be remembered by those natives who stoned her all the way to the station.To the utter dismay of the local tribes,Mrs Dyson did indeed place her large boots on the banks of the true Amazon.
